Hawkesbury Electorate Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

A message of encouragement from Robyn

THE LOCAL HEALTH RESPONSE IN THE HAWKESBURY

The Coronavirus Mobile Clinic at Hawkesbury Hospital is open, operating from 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday. There are also many other clinic locations, including hospitals at Nepean (Penrith), in the Blue Mountains, Hornsby, and Blacktown. Their locations and hours are here.

The Hawkesbury Coronavirus Clinic will be closed over the Easter long weekend. All other clinics will operate as usual.

Hawkesbury’s mobile clinic is located in the car park adjacent to the entrance of the Emergency Department, next to the old cafe.

Only people who have recently returned from overseas, have been in contact with someone who has tested positive with the virus, or who have flu-like symptoms need to be tested.

What if you’re feeling unwell?

If you develop a fever, a cough, sore throat or shortness of breath within 14 days of overseas travel, seek medical attention. Call your GP, or the 24-hour Helpline at Healthdirect on 1800 022 222. Do this before presenting at a medical clinic or at Emergency, and follow the phone advice closely. NSW Health’s advice about what do do if you feel unwell are here.

THE NSW STATE GOVERNMENT RESPONSE

The NSW Government’s most current information is updated at this website.

It covers a huge range of areas, including current personal restrictions, how to obtain financial support, what arrangements are in place for schools, universities and childcare, what you should do if you run a business, and what the latest infection and testing statistics are.Recent updates include:

You can also visit the Service NSW website or call their hotline on 13 77 88. You can talk to someone 24/7.

Service NSW customer service centres are still open, but may have reduced hours or staff. Click here or the image below for more.

STAYING BUSY AND PRODUCTIVE

I understand that social isolation for many has been very disruptive to our daily lives, but it’s also an opportunity for self improvement! NSW TAFE has announced a series of free online courses.

Working from home well is often a matter of preparing a space, and having the right frame of mind. These tips may help you to get into the groove.

I want everyone to be mindful of their mental wellness at this time. This means:

  • Staying connected — keeping in touch by phone, social media or video calls.
  • Keep moving — exercise to relieve stress.
  • Sticking to a routine — keep regular sleeping and eating patterns.
  • Switching off — take a break from the news or the Internet if it feels overwhelming.
  • Reaching out — activate your support network or reach out for professional help.

More resources are here for those who need them.
