TEMPORARY INTERRUPTION TO SACKVILLE FERRY SERVICE
From Monday, 25 November to Thursday, 28 November 2024 the Sackville Ferry service will stop running from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Transport for NSW will be carrying out important work to increase the safety and efficiency of the service.
The beams at the ferry approach will be improved with concrete being poured over the existing beams.
The work may finish earlier than expected if there are favourable weather conditions, but wet weather, wind, tides and flooding can slow down scheduled work times, so check Live Traffic NSW for further updates.
Motorists needing to cross the river when works are being carried out will need to use Lower Portland Ferry, adding a further 20 minutes travel time.
Motorists on the eastern side of the river can detour via River Road and motorists on the western side of the river can detour via West Portland Road (see the map below).
Motorists can also take a detour to Windsor, adding around 35 minutes
travel time.
Motorists on the western side of the river can detour via Sackville Road and motorists on the eastern side can detour via Sackville Ferry Road, Wisemans Ferry Road and Cattai Road.
Emergency Services needing to cross the river during repair hours will still be able to cross at Sackville with a short delay of around 20 minutes to allow for the resetting of the crossing to provide the ferry service.
I do appreciate that this will be a significant disruption, so please plan your trip and allow additional travel time.

A new Anglicare Op Shop was officially opened today in George Street, Windsor.
Great to have Rev Dr Andrew Ford and CEO Simon Miller from Anglicare lead staff, volunteers and locals in this celebration of its 35th store.
The range of clothes, shoes, accessories and food available is plentiful and you are sure to find a treasure.
Brides-to-be will love the stunning collection of gowns and many with a price tag of $50.00!
The Op Shop is also a safe place to seek support, care and a friendly face when you need it.
The store is open Monday to Saturday and I have three $25 gift vouchers to give away, to spend at the store.
Contact my office during the week on 02 4578 0300 or email me hawkesbury@parliament.nsw.gov.au to go in the draw to win.

It’s McHappy Day today and there’s still time to drop into a McDonald’s restaurant.
Proceeds from McDonald’s restaurants go to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) which help seriously ill and injured children and their families across Australia.
I called in to check out how the crew at Richmond were doing and things looked very busy.
Love your work guys!

OUT WITH A PUFF! - CLAMPING DOWN ON ILLEGAL TOBACCO SALES
This week in Parliament the Minns Labor Government accepted our amendments to impose tougher penalties on illegal tobacco sales as part of new tobacco laws.
The illicit tobacco trade is now a national crime crisis - not just a health issue.
This is a huge win for community safety, helping to protect small businesses and communities across NSW.

Bite the Real Bullet. Make it Illegal! That went real well. Ask the late Alfonso Capone . Accept Reality, some people Will smoke despite all our Pleading. Free Dope ( marijuana ) is worse, a Doped out , useless clod of the population. Avalook at the silly US states now in disarray
At any point Robyn Preston MP, did you or the other common-sense MPs advocate for a lowering of tobacco excise? Granted it is a national issue, however having both levels of government slapping us isn’t helping…
An illegal trade only made worse by government taxes. This has caused an uptick in the black market. It is highly profitable for criminals.
This week in Parliament I spoke on Remembrance Day Services and the rich connection this anniversary has with Hawkesbury's Defence history.
The Scheyville Officer Training Unit plays a big role in our history and the generous funding that has been secured is in jeopardy.

Good to see you at the Kurrajong Remembrance Day service. It was a wonderful morning. Thank you for supporting the Scheyville project.
I was honoured to stand with Barry Sunderland from the National Servicemen’s Association of Australia Hawkesbury District Sub-Branch.
Alex Crass, the oldest serving volunteer with St John Ambulance Service, was also there to support the ceremony.
Two legends in Hawkesbury we can be so proud of.
On this special day, let’s give thanks to those Australians who gave us the freedom we will always cherish.

On this Remembrance Day, with poppies lighting up our iconic Opera House, Australians unite in gratitude for those who gave everything in service to our country.
It’s more than a minute’s silence – it's a pledge to never take for granted the freedoms won through their sacrifices.
Let’s honour their legacy by building a future worthy of their bravery, where we truly look after our veterans and uphold the peace they fought for.
Lest we forget.

HAWKESBURY REMEMBERS OUR VETERANS
Thank you Windsor and District RSL Sub Branch and Glenorie RSL Sub Branch for their Remembrance Day services at Colo River War Memorial, Freemans Reach War Memorial and at Glenorie.
I especially appreciated our younger generation’s active participation through 1st Oakville Scout Group BHHSACU (Baulkham Hills High School Cadets), Colo Heights Public School and Hills Pipe Band.
Thank you also to RFS volunteers and our first responders.
These ceremonies enable us to give thanks to our veterans and serving members and to pay our respects to those who gave their life for the freedoms we enjoy today.
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.

I was inspired as I listened to double amputee Dave Miln, who lost both his legs while protecting his daughters from potential fatalities.
We also heard from Doug Griffiths who has incurable cancer but makes every day count.
CDs work in a high risk environment with diving missions to depths of 54 metres and also engage in rendering safe and disposing of conventional explosive devices.
The physical and mental health of CDs is continually challenged and the Navy Clearance Diver Trust fills the gaps to provide relief during the tough times.
Congratulations to Chairperson, Denise Goldsworthy for another successful evening and also to Gavin for bravely telling his story as a young CD which has truly shaped his life and the path he is now walking on.

The Kokoda Day Service brought us together today in the presence of three distinguished WW2 Veterans - Bruce Robertson who is 104 years old and David Trist and Reg Chard, both 100 years old.
Charlie Lynn OAM addressed the crowd at Concord and he reminded us of the significant contribution that the New Guinea wartime ‘Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels’ as they affectionately became known as, had made to the Kokoda Campaign.
It was on 3rd November 1942 that the Australians rallied, pushed back the Japanese across the Track and recaptured Kokoda, where they raised the Australian flag…… and that’s why we remember them.
Lest we forget.
